Gene : CTF7 A. thaliana

DB identifier  ? AT4G31400 Secondary Identifier  ? locus:2128126
Brief Description  protein CTF7
TAIR Computational Description  protein CTF7;(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary  Encodes CTF7, a homolog of the yeast CTF protein required for the formation of sister chromatid cohesion. Arabidopsis CTF7 is similar to Saccharomyces cerevisiae CTF7 in that it lacks an N-terminal extension, exhibits acetyltransferase activity, and can complement a yeast ctf7 temperature-sensitive mutation. Arabidopsis CTF7 is critical for female gametophyte and embryo development, but not for the establishment of mitotic cohesion during microgametogenesis or during endosperm development. Inactivation of CTF7 results in severe defects in reproduction and vegetative growth.
TAIR Short Description  damaged DNA binding;DNA-directed DNA polymerases
TAIR Aliases  AtCTF7, CTF7, ECO1

Type Comment Proteins
CTF7_ARATH function Acetyltransferase required for the establishment of sister chromatid cohesion (PubMed:20671110). Involved in preservation of genome integrity and meiosis (PubMed:20671110, PubMed:23750584). Required for DNA repair and for the regulation of chromosome segregation during mitotic cell division (PubMed:20671110, PubMed:23750584). Knock-down mutants are extremely dwarf (PubMed:20671110). Regulator of sister chromatid cohesion in meiosis which negatively regulates cohesin association with chromatin, acting as an antagonist of WAPL1 and WAPL2 (PubMed:26813623).
CTF7_ARATH A0A1P8B3F6_ARATH similarity Belongs to the acetyltransferase family. ECO subfamily.
CTF7_ARATH tissue specificity Expressed in roots, stems, leaves, young seedlings and flower buds. Detected in the embryo, but not in the endosperm.
