Name | TRANSPARENT TESTA 12 | Brief Description | MATE efflux family protein |
TAIR Computational Description | MATE efflux family protein;(source:Araport11) |
TAIR Curator Summary | Encodes a proton antiporter. Involved in the transportation of proanthocyanidin precursors into the vacuole. In vitro transport experiments showed that cyanidin-3-O-glucoside (anthocyanin) was an effective substrate, whereas the proanthocyanidin precursor epicatechin was not transported. However catechin-3-O-glucoside inhibited anthocyanin transport in a dose-dependent manner suggesting that glycosylated epicatechin is the in vivo substrate. Recessive mutation has strong reduction of proanthocyanidin deposition in vacuoles and has reduced dormancy. Expressed in the endothelium of ovules and developing seeds. |
