Description | This enzyme has two NAD+-dependent activities: alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) and acetaldehyde dehydrogenase (ACDH) [ , , ]. It controls ethanol and acetate production under aerobic conditions []. The N-terminal region of the protein is highly homologous to aldehyde:NAD(+) oxidoreductases, whereas the C-terminal region is homologous to a family of Fe(2+)-dependent ethanol:NAD(+) oxidoreductases. In Escherichia coli, this fusion protein also functions as a pyruvate formate lyase deactivase []. | Name | Bifunctional aldehyde-alcohol dehydrogenase |
