| Description | Viral protein involved in the evasion of host adaptive immune response by inhibiting the presentation of loaded MHC class II molecules at the cell surface. MHC class II molecules are found only on a few specialized cells termed professional antigen-presenting cells (APCs) This group includes macrophages, dendritic cells and B-cells. Many viruses 'intercept' the loaded MHC class II molecules and retain them in the endoplasmic reticulum or target them to degradation in order to prevent presentation of the peptides at the cell surface |
