| Description | This entry represents a subfamily of the short chain dehydrogenases. Characterised members so far as 3-hydroxybutyrate dehydrogenases and are found in species that accumulate ester polymers called polyhydroxyalkanoic acids (PHAs) under certain conditions. Several members of the family are from species not known to accumulate PHAs, including Oceanobacillus iheyensis and Bacillus subtilis.
