Gene : SSE1 A. thaliana

DB identifier  ? AT2G45690 Secondary Identifier  ? locus:2043674
Name  ? SHRUNKEN SEED 1 Brief Description  shrunken seed protein (SSE1)
TAIR Computational Description  shrunken seed protein (SSE1);(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary  Encodes a protein with similarity to yeast Pep16p, a membrane localized protein involved in peroxisome assembly and protein-trafficking. SSE1 mutant seeds do not accumulate oils and dessicated seeds have a shrunken appearance. Involved in protein and oil body biogenesis. SSE is expressed during seed development, reaching the highest peak in mature siliques. Expression in leaves and roots is low compared to cotyledons and flowers. Located in peroxisomes and endoplasmic reticulum. Homologous to the peroxin PEX16 and complements the pex16 mutants of the yeast Yarrowia lipolytica.
TAIR Short Description  shrunken seed protein (SSE1)
TAIR Aliases  ATPEX16, PEX16, SSE, SSE1
