Gene : PDLP1 A. thaliana

DB identifier  ? AT5G43980 Secondary Identifier  ? locus:2172492
Name  ? plasmodesmata-located protein 1 Brief Description  plasmodesmata-located protein 1
TAIR Computational Description  plasmodesmata-located protein 1;(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary  Encodes a plasmodesmal protein that affects the intercellular movement of molecules through the plasmodesmata. The cytoplasmic C-terminal portion of the protein is connected to the apoplastic N-terminal portion of the protein by a single transmembrane domain (TMD). It is transported to the plasmodesmata through the secretory pathway. PDLP1 has two DUF26 domains and a signal peptide, but the proper localization of the protein appears to depend on the TMD.
TAIR Short Description  plasmodesmata-located protein 1
TAIR Aliases  PDLP1, PDLP1A

PDLP1_ARATH function Modulates cell-to-cell trafficking (PubMed:18215111). Required for systemic acquired resistance (SAR) which is mediated by the signaling molecules azelaic acid (AzA), glycerol-3-phosphate (G3P), and salicylic acid (SA). Required for the proper localization and stability of AZI1 which is involved in SAR (PubMed:27078071). Mediates callose deposition during downy mildew fungal infection around haustoria. Haustoria are unicellular protrusions from hyphae and function as the site of molecular exchange of nutrients and effectors between host and pathogen (PubMed:25393742).
PDLP1_ARATH similarity Belongs to the cysteine-rich repeat secretory protein family. Plasmodesmata-located proteins (PDLD) subfamily.
PDLP1_ARATH subcellular location Co-localizes with the Grapevine fanleaf virus 2B-MP at the base of tubules within modified plasmodesmata. Co-localizes with Cauliflower mosaic virus movement protein. Utilizes the secretory pathway for delivery to plasmodesmata.
PDLP1_ARATH tissue specificity Highly expressed in cell suspension. Expressed in epidermal and spongy mesophyll cells, and the cell wall interface at the base of the leaf trichome (at protein level) (PubMed:18215111, PubMed:19704520). Expressed in haustoria-containing cells (PubMed:25393742).
