Gene : ACS A. thaliana

DB identifier  ? AT5G36880 Secondary Identifier  ? locus:2149104
Name  ? acetyl-CoA synthetase Brief Description  acetyl-CoA synthetase
TAIR Computational Description  acetyl-CoA synthetase;(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary  Encodes a plastidic acetyl-coA synthetase. This enzyme plays a role in converting acetate to acetyl-coA in the plastids. It does not appear to be a major contributor to fatty acid biosynthesis based on mutant phenotypes. The enzyme seems to act as a monomer and may play an important role in preventing the toxic accumulation of fermentation products including acetaldehyde, acetate, and ethanol. It participates in the pyruvate dehydrogenase bypass pathway
TAIR Short Description  acetyl-CoA synthetase
TAIR Aliases  ACS
