Gene : ACL5 A. thaliana

DB identifier  ? AT5G19530 Secondary Identifier  ? locus:2180816
Name  ? ACAULIS 5 Brief Description  S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent methyltransferases superfamily protein
TAIR Computational Description  S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent methyltransferases superfamily protein;(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary  Encodes a spermine synthase. Required for internode elongation and vascular development, specifically in the mechanism that defines the boundaries between veins and nonvein regions. This mechanism may be mediated by polar auxin transport. Though ACL5 has been shown to function as a spermine synthase in E. coli, an ACL5 knockout has no effect on the endogenous levels of free and conjugated polyamines in Arabidopsis, suggesting that ACL5 may have a very specific or altogether different in vivo function.
TAIR Short Description  S-adenosyl-L-methionine-dependent methyltransferases superfamily protein
TAIR Aliases  ACL5
