Similar to Bug22p in Paramecium, a conserved centrosomal/ciliary protein. This protein is widespread in eukaryotes harboring centrioles/cilia at some stage of their life cycles. Among eukaryotes devoid of centrioles/cilia, plants possess BUG22 genes whereas some fungi (at least ascomycetes) do not.
