Gene : PLDP2 A. thaliana

DB identifier  ? AT3G05630 Secondary Identifier  ? locus:2078037
Name  ? phospholipase D P2 Brief Description  phospholipase D P2
TAIR Computational Description  phospholipase D P2;(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary  Encodes a member of the PXPH-PLD subfamily of phospholipase D proteins. Regulates vesicle trafficking. Required for auxin transport and distribution and hence auxin responses. This subfamily is novel structurally different from the majority of plant PLDs by having phox homology (PX) and pleckstrin homology (PH) domains. Involved regulating root development in response to nutrient limitation. Plays a major role in phosphatidic acid production during phosphate deprivation. Induced upon Pi starvation in both shoots and roots. Involved in hydrolyzing phosphatidylcholine and phosphatidylethanolamine to produce diacylglycerol for digalactosyldiacylglycerol synthesis and free Pi to sustain other Pi-requiring processes. Does not appear to be involved in root hair patterning. Expression is upregulated in the shoot of cax1/cax3 mutant and is responsive to phosphate (Pi) and not phosphite (Phi) in roots and shoots.
TAIR Short Description  phospholipase D P2
TAIR Aliases  PDLZ2, PLDP2, PLDZETA2

PLDZ2_ARATH function Hydrolyzes glycerol-phospholipids at the terminal phosphodiesteric bond to generate phosphatidic acids (PA). Phosphatidylcholine-selective (PubMed:11891260). Regulates vesicle trafficking and auxin responses (PubMed:17259265). Required for the normal cycling of PIN-2 containing vesicles (PubMed:17259265). Contributes to the supply of inorganic phosphorus for cell metabolism and diacylglycerol moieties for galactolipid synthesis in phosphorus-starved roots (PubMed:16617110, PubMed:16891548). Involved in root elongation during phosphate limitation (PubMed:16384909).
PLDZ2_ARATH similarity Belongs to the phospholipase D family. PXPH-PLD subfamily.
PLDZ2_ARATH tissue specificity Expressed in seedlings, roots, leaves, stems and flowers (PubMed:16384909, PubMed:17259265). Highest expression in roots (PubMed:16384909). Detected only in the meristematic regions up to 4 days after germination and then at later stages in all tissues (PubMed:16617110).
