Gene : ETC2 A. thaliana

DB identifier  ? AT2G30420 Secondary Identifier  ? locus:2064352
Name  ? ENHANCER OF TRY AND CPC 2 Brief Description  Homeodomain-like superfamily protein
TAIR Computational Description  Homeodomain-like superfamily protein;(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary  In a tandem repeat with AT2G30424 and AT2G30432. Negative regulator of trichome development. Overexpression results in the suppression of trichomes and overproduction of root hairs; single mutant shows an increase in trichome number on leaves and petiols. Double and triple mutant analysis indicates that the ETC2 gene acts redundant with TRY and CPC in trichome patterning.
TAIR Short Description  Homeodomain-like superfamily protein
TAIR Aliases  ETC2

Proteins

Curated comments from UniProt

Type Comment Proteins
ETC2_ARATH function MYB-type transcription factor involved in epidermal cell fate specification. Acts as a negative regulator of trichome development, by mediating lateral inhibition. Promotes the formation of hair developing cells in H position in root epidermis, probably by inhibiting non-hair cell formation.
ETC2_ARATH tissue specificity Expressed in stomatal guard mother cells, young stomata and trichomes of young leaves, and inflorescences.
