Gene : UBA1A A. thaliana

DB identifier  ? AT2G22090 Secondary Identifier  ? locus:2055956
Brief Description  RNA-binding (RRM/RBD/RNP motifs) family protein
TAIR Computational Description  RNA-binding (RRM/RBD/RNP motifs) family protein;(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary  encodes a nuclear protein that binds to RNA with a specificity for oligouridylates in vitro. As with UBP1, transient overexpression of UBA1a in protoplasts increases the steady-state levels of reporter mRNAs in a promoter-dependent manner. Along with UBP1 and UBA2a, it may act as a component of a complex recognizing U-rich sequences in plant 3'-UTRs and contributing to the stabilization of mRNAs in the nucleus.
TAIR Short Description  RNA-binding (RRM/RBD/RNP motifs) family protein
TAIR Aliases  UBA1A

Type Comment Proteins
UBA1A_ARATH function Acts as component of a complex regulating the turnover of mRNAs in the nucleus. Binds with high affinity to RNA molecules that contain U-rich sequences in 3'-UTRs. May function in complex with UBP1 and contribute to the stabilization of mRNAs in the nucleus. However, unlike UBP1, UBA1A does not stimulate pre-mRNA splicing.
