Encodes a member of the WRKY Transcription Factor family, Group II-e. It plays critical roles in the repression of plant thermomorphogenesis. WRKY14 represses expression of PIF4 at the transcriptional level, as well as the transactivation activity of the PIF4-TCP5 complex at the protein level, by interacting with TCP5 during plant thermomorphogenesis.
Transcription factor. Interacts specifically with the W box (5'-(T)TGAC[CT]-3'), a frequently occurring elicitor-responsive cis-acting element (By similarity).
