Gene : ABCI14 A. thaliana

DB identifier  ? AT1G19800 Secondary Identifier  ? locus:2013099
Name  ? ATP-binding cassette I14 Brief Description  trigalactosyldiacylglycerol 1
TAIR Computational Description  trigalactosyldiacylglycerol 1;(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary  Encodes a permease-like protein involved in lipid transfer from the ER to the chloroplast, more specifically, transfer of phosphatidate across the chloroplast inner membrane. Mutant leaves accumulate trigalactosyldiacylglycerol, triacylglycerol and phosphatidate. Chloroplast lipids are altered in their fatty acid composition and as a consequence the development of chloroplasts in the mutants are impacted. The mutant seeds has a higher abortion rate. Mutations in this gene suppress the low temperature-induced phenotype of Arabidopsis tocopherol-deficient mutant vte2.
TAIR Short Description  trigalactosyldiacylglycerol 1
TAIR Aliases  ABCI14, TGD1

Proteins

Curated comments from UniProt

Type Comment Proteins
TGD1_ARATH function Required during embryogenesis. Permease involved in lipid transfer from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to plastids, and necessary for thylakoids formation.
TGD1_ARATH similarity Belongs to the MlaE permease family.
TGD1_ARATH tissue specificity High levels in green tissues, but low levels in nongreen tissues such as roots.
