Gene : COW1 A. thaliana

DB identifier  ? AT4G34580 Secondary Identifier  ? locus:2139564
Name  ? CAN OF WORMS1 Brief Description  Sec14p-like phosphatidylinositol transfer family protein
TAIR Computational Description  Sec14p-like phosphatidylinositol transfer family protein;(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary  Encodes COW1 (can of worms1), a phosphatidylinositol transfer protein essential for root hair tip growth. The N-terminus of the COW1 protein is 32% identical to an essential phosphatidylinositol transfer protein (PITP), the yeast Sec14 protein (sec14p) while the C-terminus is 34.5% identical to a late nodulin of Lotus japonicus, Nlj16. Expression of COW1 complements the growth defect associated with Sec14p dysfunction in yeast. GFP fused to the COW1 protein specifically accumulates at the site of root hair outgrowth.
TAIR Short Description  Sec14p-like phosphatidylinositol transfer family protein
TAIR Aliases  AtSFH1, COW1, SRH1
