Gene : LysoPL2 A. thaliana

DB identifier  ? AT1G52760 Secondary Identifier  ? locus:2011511
Name  ? lysophospholipase 2 Brief Description  lysophospholipase 2
TAIR Computational Description  lysophospholipase 2;(source:Araport11)
TAIR Curator Summary  Encodes caffeoyl shikimate esterase and is involved in lignin biosynthesis. CSE converts caffeoyl shikimate to caffiate. Loss of function mutations have reduced lignin content and collapsed vessel elements. It is also reported to function as a lysophospholipase 2 (LysoPL2) involved in tolerance to cadmium-induced oxidative stress. Binds Acyl-CoA-binding protein 2 (ACBP2).
TAIR Short Description  lysophospholipase 2
TAIR Aliases  AtMAGL3, CSE, LysoPL2

CSE_ARATH function Esterase involved in the biosynthesis of lignin. Hydrolyzes caffeoylshikimate into caffeate and shikimate. Together with 4-coumarate--CoA ligase (4CL), acts on an alternative reaction for the formation of caffeoyl-CoA and bypasses the second reaction of shikimate O-hydroxycinnamoyltransferase (HST). Accepts also 4-coumaroylshikimate as substrate, but with lower activity. According to PubMed:20345607 and PubMed:22915575, possesses monoacylglycerol O-acyltransferase, monoacylglycerol lipase and lysophospholipase activities in vitro. With the association of ACBP2, may promote the degradation of lysophosphatidylcholine and detoxify the peroxidized membrane in response to cadmium-induced oxidative stress. However these results require additional confirmation in vivo.
CSE_ARATH similarity Belongs to the AB hydrolase superfamily. Monoacylglycerol lipase family.
CSE_ARATH subcellular location Colocalizes with ACBP2.
CSE_ARATH tissue specificity Expressed in vasculature of roots and leaves, stems, flowers and siliques.
