Protein Domain : IPR021112

Description  Streptococcal species produce a lantibiotic, streptin, in a similar manner to the production of nisin and subtilin by other lactic acid bacteria, in order to compete against competing bacteria within the environment []. Its production is regulated through quorum sensing []. The immunity protein protects the bacterium from destruction by its own lantibiotic. In general, there is little homology between the immunity proteins of different genera of bacteria. This entry represents the C-terminal domain of this protein. Name  Lantibiotic streptin immunity protein, C-terminal domain
Short Name  Lantibiotic_streptin_immun_C Type  Domain
