To the Bio-Array Resource Homepage The Bio-Array Resource DataMetaFormatter

This program takes the information (ordered expression level plus annotation) generated by Michael Eisen's Cluster or TreeView programs or a spreadsheet or database program and metaformats it with multiple levels of information for Arabidopsis data sets. In addition, it is easy to paste the reformatted HTML output into Word 2000 or higher, or into OpenOffice. You must be using Internet Explorer v. 5.0 or greater for this to work, although this will also work with higher versions of Netscape. Note too, that pasting into Excel doesn't work that well, as the gradations in colouring are dithered. NEW. Queries from Access or a spreadsheet table of expression data may be pasted into the box below, as long at the columns are in the following order: ID, Annotation,value1,value2,value3...the first row should contain the column titles.
  1. Select the node you're interested in from TreeView or view the .cdt file for the entire dataset and select everything. In this case continue with step 4 (ditto if you've copied something from Access or Excel).
  2. Under File select Save Data and save the data somewhere
  3. Open the text file you just saved and select everything (Edit | Select All)
  4. Paste these data into the box below (Ctrl V); don't worry if the contents wrap.
  5. Enter the value for the image contrast from TreeView here: (see Settings | Options | Display-Tab | Image Contrast) or leave blank for auto-determination
  6. Remove bracketed (older) ID tags?   Show line numbers?   Show link out to TAIR?
  7. Hide values in output? If you elect to view the values in your output, how many decimal places?
  8. Take log2 of input values (i.e. you are inputting ratios) ?
  9. Colour scheme: Use red-yellow-blue instead of red-black-green ?
  10. Append functional classification to output? Link experiments to the appropriate database (names must match)
  11. Chose Classification Source:
  12. If you enter terms into the smaller box on the right (one per line) then the program will output separate lists, each matching a given term, plus those that don't match, or will highlight all entered terms in the master list.
  13. Submit...
Data BoxTerm Selector. Highlight...
each in separate lists
all terms in one list, or
all terms in one list but filtered
