Title:The effect on cell wall remodelling enzymes gene expression when the gibberellin response is blocked

Description:Gibberellins (GAs) are plant hormones that act as essential endogenous signals regulating growth and developmental processes during the plant life cycle. At the cellular level, GAs have been shown to encourage both cell division and cell elongation. Both metabolic GA mutants, such as AtGA20ox1 (with reduced GA levels), and signalling GA mutants, such as gai (with reduced GA response) reveal a dwarf phenotype and short root. Ubeda-Tom¡s et al. (2008) showed that GA promotes root elongation in Arabidopsis thaliana by regulating cell elongation in the endodermis. The regulation of endodermal cell elongation seems to rely on the control of GA over the cell wall extensibility. In order to analyse the molecular mechanisms through which GAs control cell wall properties to regulate cell growth and therefore, root elongation in Arabidopsis thaliana, we are using a global transcriptomic analysis approach.The SCR::gai-GR system, an inducible system that blocks the GA response in the endodermis is being used in this experiment to analyse what the changes in cell wall remodelling enzymes gene expression are when the GA response is blocked in the endodermis of the Arabidopsis thaliana root. This experiment focuses on the meristem and elongation zone of Arabidopsis roots. A time series of data of induced GA blocked response after treating the roots for 0, 15, 30, 60, 120, and 240 minutes with 10uM of Dexamethasone has been used in this study.
