Description: | Stomatal guard cells provide a well-suited model cell system to understand early signal transduction events in plants in response to endogenous and environmental stimuli. However, the molecular nature of many components in guard cell signal transduction pathways remains to be elucidated. To obtain a large number of genes involved in guard cell signal transduction, it might be an efficient way to use DNA microarray approach with probes prepared from guard cell RNA which is isolated from ABA-treated or -nontreated plants. Because we have developed a multi-step procedure to isolate Arabidopsis (ecotype, Columbia) guard cells, we could isolate many guard cell genes that are regulated by ABA using the high throughput technique. |
